The $30K SaaS bill our team killed in one afternoon

Almost exactly $30K per year.
Every tool worked. Each one was the "best in class" choice when we picked it. Each line item looked reasonable in isolation. Aggregated, they were one of the biggest line items in our SaaS budget and growing faster than headcount.
We replaced all of them in an afternoon.
What happened that afternoon

Hour 4: Configure Carlos for sales digests. Connect HubSpot. Run him against current pipeline. The output was actually better than the SaaS pipeline tool's because Carlos personalized per-rep instead of doing one team rollup.
Hour 5: Configure Marcus, Yuki, Liam, Anna. Faster now that we'd seen the pattern. Each took 20-30 minutes including connection and validation.
Hour 6: Run all 7 for an hour. Watch them work. Adjust thresholds. Sanity-check the outputs against what the corresponding SaaS would have produced.
By the end of the afternoon, we had the seven workflows running on Avery NXR on each of our three laptops. The output quality was at least as good as the SaaS tools. The latency was faster (local model > round trip to a hosted LLM).
The cancellation cycle

Three things surprised us about the switch:
The audit log became important fast. Avery NXR records every agent action to a structured ledger. We didn't think much about this when we installed; we discovered its value the first time an executive asked "why did the AI auto-resolve that customer ticket?" The answer was in the ledger in 30 seconds, with the specific KB article Priya referenced and the confidence score.
The customization compounded. Within two weeks of switching, our head of CX had forked Priya into two versions — one for our enterprise customers (more conservative auto-reply threshold) and one for SMB customers (more aggressive). Test 1: Do you spend more than $1,000/month on AI-flavored SaaS subscriptions? If yes, the math is probably worth doing.
Test 2: Do you have customers or compliance requirements that care about where AI processes your data? If yes, the architecture matters beyond cost.
Test 3: Are you frustrated by the bolted-on, not-fully-customizable nature of the AI features in your existing SaaS? If yes, the flexibility will matter.
