Start the Qdrant service
2 min · 3 steps
The service is off by default — start it when you want to index documents or enable vector search.
Click 'Start service' on the Knowledge Repository page. Avery downloads the Qdrant binary on first run (~40 MB), places it in `~/.nxr/qdrant/`, and launches it on port 6333. The status badge turns green and the version number appears. The service stays running until you click 'Stop service' or quit the desktop app.
Steps
- Open Knowledge Repository.
Click Knowledge (⌘4) in the left sidebar.
- Click 'Start service'.
On first run Avery downloads the Qdrant binary. Subsequent starts take under a second.
- Confirm the status badge shows 'running'.
The green badge in the header confirms the service is live on port 6333.
